Update

So it’s been a while since I’ve posted something and it’s getting close to a year after I got my license. I still haven’t gotten on the radio much, and it’s probably because the few times I have I feel out of place. So many people have the get off my lawn mentality.

I am still not sure what to do, do I stick with it until I become one of them, or do I do something else?

Packet Radio

So, I recently purchased a SignaLink USB that I can use with my Baofeng radio’s. While I started playing with it, I noticed that finding Windows software is quite difficult.

I may need to install Linux on my laptop or do a live USB to see if I have better luck doing it on there.

Kenwood TM-V71A

After passing my technician test I decided it was time to purchase a mobile radio and put it in my vehicle, after looking around and figuring out a budget I thought the Kenwood TM-V71A would be a really good fit. So far I am really happy with it and have it installed in my car. The only remaining at the time of this post is to make a bracket to hold the head unit.

I am also thinking that about adding a TNC into the Raspberry Pi that I have running in my car and have it act as a APRS digipeater.
